Interspecies play

One of the contributions of facial recognition, as a trigger for augmented realities, is the possibility of becoming fictional characters through an interactive masks .

‘Interspecies play’ (2024) is a design for mobile devices that recognises up to three people, transformed into horned animals, that roar and blink through facial control of the users.

The piece is based on the intrinsic appeal of the pleasure of disguise and from a character design point of view presents a series of subtle variations within the visual and conceptual coherence of this small family of horned avatars.
